Q1) What has been your professional journey?

• Started my career with Kuhne + Nagel as an MT in 2004 & I worked there for 1 year.
• My flair for the aviation industry led me to Air Jamaica Cargo where I worked for 1 and a half years.
• Then I joined Jet Airways in 2007 as Junior Manager – Cargo Sales. I handled the international cargo sales for all international flights of Jet Airways that operated out of DEL.
•  In Nov 2008 I got the opportunity to work with the World’s Largest Freight Carrier – FedEx Express.
•  Working as a Territory Manager for Express and ATA Business in North India, I joined the company.
• I was promoted to Senior Territory Manager- All Products handling North India and East India and selling all the products of FedEx which includes Express, ATA, Perishable, VAL& Silver, etc

It has been a joy ride with a career that spanned 18 years and I completed 14 years at FedEx Express this month.

Q2) Help us identify the key skills needed to sustain and grow in the freight forwarding and logistics sector.

The major skill set required in Sales & Operations:

• Research – Call planning
• Engage – Listen, acknowledge & empathize
• Discovery – Seeking more information
• Demonstrate – Provide a solution

Always make sure you are fully aware of what is happening across the world so you can tie it into your discussion of international trade.

Q3) What changes do you observe in the career options being offered by the freight forwarding and logistics industry?

• Freight forwarding, logistics, and aviation all go hand in hand, and the world economy cannot move without them.
• The importance of this vertical or segment was only felt in the last 2 and half years when the whole world was under the grip of deadly COVID-19.
• By offering the Lifesaving COVID-19 vaccine to people around the globe, this segment helped the largest economies to help the smallest economies fight this deadly disease that had brought the world to its knees. 

This industry offers a variety of career paths from operations to sales, logistics, supply chain, and aviation. This industry, as I said earlier, affects economies all over the world.

Q4) Is there any message that you would like to share with the FIIB Community?

All young aspiring professionals should know that consistency and perseverance are both vital elements of professional success and growth! Don’t give up, and hold onto your hope. It is the defining characteristic of nearly half of successful professionals. Consistently accumulating small habits eventually leads to results beyond imagination.
