A conversation with our Alum of the Month
“The requirement of wisdom is of utmost importance to carry out your journey in the corporate sector”
How has FIIB helped you in your career journey?
FIIB happened to be the most significant turning point in my education stint. It offered me a high level of insight into understanding my strengths and weaknesses and most certainly allowed me to stream it correctly into my future. In FIIB, I was untrammeled and that allowed me to learn the real-life challenges The inexhaustible opportunities, from participating in some of the prestigious inter-college competitions to allowing me to participate as the core organizer of the 1st cultural fest. Such a set of experiments allowed a supreme level of understanding of team efforts, group work, and alignment in common goals with other students or staff. I would also take this opportunity to thank FIIB, which got me a campus placement 11 years back and I continued working with the same organization and managed to head a team of affluent bankers.
In life, why you should Never Stop Learning, especially on your corporate journey.
The graph of your career will only move upwards when you stand out and to stand out, you require to thrive in gathering as much knowledge as you can. The requirement of wisdom is of utmost importance to carry out your journey in a corporate structure. I mastered Finance in FIIB but I was equally keen on marketing as well. I was never overly particular about what field I take up and that’s when Citi came to campus with a B2C sales job. I needed my understanding of financial instruments along with the ability to market them.
PS – in the times of the metaverse, your mind will be your biggest meal.
Tell us about a time when you had to learn something new.
I had to learn to drive in 7 days due to the sales job and realized how being able to go myself can be productive and time effective. A funny story that comes to my mind here: I bought a car first and then learned how to drive it since I knew I would pay for damages in case I did not master driving.
Lastly, a message that you want to share with the students of FIIB students.
Make the most of the time you have in FIIB, participate in everything possible, enroll in every program, and get involved in educative as well as fun activities with a similar passion. These experiences will take you a long way in your career. It’s really not about excellence or being perfect, it’s the effort, the focus, and the strong determination, and make that your routine. I am to date extremely grateful to FIIB, for how it made it customary to be a leader, to set my own standards defeat my apprehension, and take that chance.
All the best!
